Some trainees may never become professional dancers.
In fact many will take this course to improve their own
dancing becoming highly skilled in technique and personal
enrichment. So many feel music so intensely but all will
learn the kinesthetic mechanics of each dance figure,
study the material and be tested on it. At the end of
the course each will have the range, flexibility and training
of a professional even if they wish to remain amateurs
for the rest of their dancing career. As every dancer
knows, the best Leaders have a deep understanding of the
Follower's part and visa versa; this is one of the major
differences between amateurs and professionals. It is
also true that the best way to learn something is to teach
it to someone else. This teacher training course offers
its trainees the opportunity to do both. Students may
join the program at the beginning of any quarter, they
may take the entire program or just the quarter(s) of
most interest.
This revolutionary new dance program was originally founded
by the Renowned teacher of teachers, Diane Jarmolow in
Oakland, California. This fun, but rigorous system methodically
takes you through SEVENTEEN dances of the Dance Vision
International Dance Association (DVIDA) Bronze American
Syllabus for Smooth, Rhythm, and Night Club Dances.
This program is ideal for beginners as well as those
who are already avid social dancers. Learn in only 16
months what it could take years to learn in regular group
and private lessons. Many of the elements in this program
are never taught through traditional methods.
The program consists of 4 quarters, each quarter is four
months long. There are innovative exercises, regular examinations,
presentations, and supportive feedback. Classes meet for
two hours twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday Evenings
from 6pm -8pm. You may join the program at the beginning
of any quarter and take the entire program or just the
quarters that interest you the most!
